Astra is a boutique hotel situated among the mountains of the Peloponnese, in Oreini (Mountain) Korinthia. The dramatic landscape, the tranquility of its location and its unusual and unique style, offers couples, families and friends the opportunity to enjoy either a quiet weekend break, or to book it in its entirety for a private function or event.
Kastania, the village where Astra hotel is situated, is just 150 kilometers from Athens, and at 1000 meters altitude while it sits at the base of Mount Zireia. It is also close to the lakes of Stymphalia and Doxa , and the main village of Goura.
There are opportunities for walking, relaxing, bird watching or just as a base to explore this unique and unspoilt area of Greece.
The Astra hotel is founded on an old traditional stone house along the roadside approaching the village of Kastania. This stone house has been renovated to provide a suite on the first floor whilst the ground floor has become the reception area for the hotel.’
From the stone house, a small hotel of 9 rooms has been built discretely down the mountain slope, with attractive planting and stone terracing, in keeping with the feel of the old stone houses of the village.
The stunning dining room, lounge and terrace look across at the majestical peaks, as do all the guest rooms. The accommodation in Oreini Korinthia was completed in 2008 to a high 3 star standard.
Our philosophy in conceiving the hotel was to ensure that the scale, materials and colors were all in sympathy with the original traditional houses of the village combined with having a place where guests could relax, feel at home and enjoy the wonderfully dramatic landscape surrounding them.
